  3. Acromegaly is the clinical condition which results from prolonged, excessive circulating levels of growth hormone (GH) in adults. The rare clinical counterpart of acromegaly, which occurs in younger patients before epiphyseal fusion, is called pituitary gigantism (Fig. 3.2).
